Sorry for the delay coffee fans. We had time off for an Easter recess earlier this month and things are getting crazy here as we near the end of the year.
However, this trip to the Lazy Llama Coffee Bar was a welcome reprieve from schoolwork. I’ll admit, what first drew me into this place was the name. The smiling fluffy llama logo jumped out on the otherwise unremarkable storefront.
It was rainy on the day that we visited, but it was easy to locate the coffee bar underneath the red awning. There looked to be some nice tables and chairs out front, which we would be more than happy to lounge on if the weather was more pleasant.
Inside, there was a long bench on one of the walls, which sat opposite to three small tables with another chair. There was also a bar with several high chairs along the front window. When we went in, it wasn’t too crowded, so we were (thankfully) able to secure a table.

At the counter, I asked for a cold brew with mocha- my usual order. However, I was informed that they didn’t have mocha to add to an iced coffee- despite having a mocha on their menu. What they did have was caramel, which is a fine coffee add-on as far as I’m concerned. I added some half-and-half to the coffee myself. Altogether, the order came to around $4.50, which is more than I would’ve liked, but certainly not the worst coffee pricing you can find in the city.
I was certainly pleased with my cold brew. With the caramel, it was teetering on the verge of too sweet, but that didn’t stop me from finishing the entire cup.
Still, my favorite thing about the drink was the cup sleeve with the llama mascot. Here’s a fact about me: I am a huge fan of having a holder of some form for my iced coffee. Yes, they’re not just for hot drinks any more people. In fact, when I get my weekend small iced coffee from Dunkin, I fit the cup into a plain purple koozie. Yes, a koozie like you use for a beer. Call me crazy, but I seriously dislike having my hands become freezing cold and wet while holding my coffee.
From the coffee to the casual vibe to the cute decorative throw pillows at the end of the bench seat, I thoroughly enjoyed our time here. In terms of a casual meet-up spot, I would return to the Lazy Llama.
Wish us luck in keeping our procaffeination in check throughout these finals week!
